Nanowrimo is approaching fast and I’m going to jump in with both feet.
For anyone who doesn’t know what this is, it stands for National Novel Writing Month and it’s a challenge to write a novel in one month or 50,000 words.
This is a national organization and people of all ages are doing this. Every year during the month of November.
What’s really great about it is that no one judges or grades it. No one reads it. It’s a personal challenge that gets you to take one month seriously to kick some writing butt.
I did this a couple of years ago and what I ended up doing was writing two novella, 25,000 each and what’s really awesome is that now I have two more books (unedited) to draw from when I’m looking to submit to my publisher.
If you have an idea of a book floating around in your head then you should try this.
Try it…. if you can’t complete it, then at least you gave it a shot. You started your book and that is ALWAYS a good thing.
Currently, I have three ideas in my head and I’m leaning towards novellas; book two AND three of a 4 book series. Yes, I’m a little nutty like that. I always start writing my book with an idea but then those side characters start talking to me about writing their story. LOL. I know that most published authors have stories like that.
The truth of the matter is that I rarely just write one book without eventually writing a second ….
So, join me in this challenge. It will be fun, it will be maddening, it will be stressful but if you complete the challenge it will be extremely rewarding!
