I'm so glad that you stopped by to see my contribution to this week's series of questions. I hope you like them and I made warm cyber chunky chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven for you to enjoy. So feel free to help yourself to coffee and cookies on the cyber counter.
I am really enjoying writing contemporary right now because it just feels right. I probably could never write historical because one of my problems is that I'm not always a stickler for fine details. Then again, I suppose it would depend on the type of historical it is.
I wrote a full length book about a very near futuristic contemporary setting and I had a blast writing it. Unfortunately, I've lost part of that story but once I find it (or re-write it) I hope to be able to share it with readers.
What is your favorite time in history and how and why does it inspire you?
I will assume that this question refers to books? If so, I think my favorite historical period in books are Western Romance. Rugged cowboys and feisty, independent women. Think-John Wayne Movies or Western films with romance!
If that is the wrong track then I don't know if I have a favorite time in history. Real history, for me, is filled with horrible treatment toward others, wars, genocides, slavery, unequal treatment toward women, etc. I guess I'm struggling with finding anything favorite about it right now. Too deep??
During my life so far, I've met so many different types of personalities, ranging from all kinds of scenarios. Some of my life was more along the lines of a Fairy Tale while others a Horror movie. I'm not sure if any of that is good or bad but I do know for sure that I am never at a loss for using it within my writing. Drawing from life's experiences is part of what makes a story relatively believable I think.
So now that you know what I think, be sure to hop on over to my pal to check out his responses! S. C. Mitchell http://scmitchell.wordpress.com/
