During the month of December, my 17 year old nephew, Brad Jones, vowed to do at least one random act of kindness every single day and he did.
He chronicled these acts by posting what he did with short stories on his face book. Some of you may have seen my proud postings about it on face book at the time.
He didn’t do this for any attention or any reason other than he wanted to do something. How wonderful and refreshing to see this these days. So many people today and busy just trying to get through their day, often without thinking what little things that they can do for someone else. People are hoarding their money, never considering ways to share it. It's hard times for sure and difficult to fault those who have become all about the "self". This is becoming the place where we live, but there are people like my nephew who says...But we don't have to live like this and proceeds to do something about it.
Brad has always been a good kid, always offering to help when needed and always respectful and in the Fall he’ll be heading off to College, no doubt, continuing to be an amazing person.
Brad’s random acts of kinds included, buying a bouquet of flowers/roses and giving them to a woman on the street, buying groceries for someone in the grocery line, buying gas for a guy at the gas station and filling up that guy’s car, taking Hot Cocoa to the bell ringers during the cold Chicago Christmas season, buying lunch for a mother and adult daughter in a restaurant and the list goes on.
Overtime, the Northwest Herald learned what he was do and tracked down this high school kid to interview. Now, he is part of their Everyday Heroes Series.
Check him out!
