Yesterday was my birthday.
In the past, I used to look forward to what Mom and Dad would get me for a present. When I was a little older, I always hoped Mom and Dad would take me to Red Lobster for a birthday dinner.
Red Lobster was a big deal to me back then :)
As I got older, gifts were nice but not a big a deal. I’ve always been the type who enjoyed the gift of giving rather than receiving. Though it is fun to receive sometimes too.
Over the last several years what I was really looking forward to were my boys acknowledging the day with a “Happy Birthday Mom," maybe a hug and if I was super lucky, a peck on the cheek.
Yesterday, the best gift was when I woke up, still relaxed from sleeping, grit still in my eyes and I reached over to touch my husband’s arm.
He was there.
He was warm.
He was with me and he was comfort.
Yesterday was a perfect day.
