Did you ever have one of those days when you wake up confused and the remaining of the day just keeps getting more confusing.
When I woke up this morning and peeked at my bedside table clock, it read 7:40 a.m. It's always set for 10 minutes fast. My immediate thought that it was early. I could take advantage of the morning just by rolling over and going back to sleep for a little bit longer. However, when I rolled over I caught sight of my husband's bedside table clock that read 8:30 a.m. Glancing back at my clock again, the times were different. The third digital clock is on my husband chest drawers and it also said 8:30 a.m. Right, three clocks in the same room, two are the same, one, which was mine, was not. Was it daylight savings last night time and I didn't know it? Nah, I'd have to be living under a rock to miss all of the hints, right? So logically, I jumped to, "Crap, someone has been messing with my clock, otherwise it's broke."
My first failure was when I tried to fall back to sleep but no longer felt sleepy. No worries, I'll just get up and get reading for the first 8:30 am church service.
As I'm getting dressed, my husband woke up.
"Do you know our clocks are different?" I asked him.
"It was Daylight Savings times last night."
"Really?" Now I'm completely confused because I want to know how was it that I missed that! So making the first service at 8:30 am is no longer an option, which is the second failure. No worries, I'll just make the next one at 10:00.
At 9:45 am I hop in my car and drive to church, that's not even five minutes away from home, looking forward to finding a parking space into the parking lot because lately, it's been a huge frustration for me. Our church keeps growing (good news) but depending on when you arrive, you're often directed to the overflow parking lot (bad news). Luckily for me, I get to park in the parking lot because it's just not that full today. Maybe, other people made the same mistake as I did.
So I walk into church, thinking that the first service is almost over, all I need to do is respectfully wait until service lets out, enjoy a cup of coffee and then I can go in and find a seat. As I'm standing there, the door ladies tell me that I can go in if I wanted.
"I'll just wait for the next service to begin." I replied.
"Are you sure because the pastor hasn't even made his first point yet. Really, he's just working up to it."
"Oh, I thought it was almost over. What time did service start?"
"9:15"
What? Now I'm more confused and maybe she was too. I mean, really, 9:15? Service started at 8:30 and maybe she's discombobulated like I was due to missing Daylight service and she really meant, 10:15.
I just can't seem to catch a break today in fleeing this confusion state but I decided to believe this woman. Failure number three. I walked into service and found that he was actually 3/4 of the way finished with the lesson. Epic fail.
I needed to start this day over.
