I've been fantasizing about what kind of family vacation to take next. Granted my boys are 19, 17 and 12 so the easy fixes no longer applies.
When our kids were younger we would take vacations that was guaranteed to to keep them entertained and active so we did a lot of quick trips to the Wisconsin Dells and worked our way through various amusement parks and Disney World a couple of times.
We loved Disney world and was never sure who loved it more, the kids or the parents.

But I have to say that hands down my favorite vacations always occurred by way of cruising.
This was perfect answer with both our smaller kids and our older kids because it was the best of both worlds for me. Our kids were still with us while not ALWAYS being with us. When we were separated I knew they were having fun with other kids their ages and at any given moment, or self induced panicked moments, I could find them.
It also allowed for my hubby and I to take a more relaxing vacation like walking the decks while holding hands, sitting and people watching and dining that didn't require Chicken nuggets and french fries.

At one point, we went to an all inclusive resort in Mexico with my husbands entire family and that was slightly disastrous but the kids had fun and back then that was really all that mattered. My fondest memory of that time were when they'd swim up to the pool bar and order their little drinks.
With BIG kids now, every cost is now adult cost so this is going to be a little time and money management situation.
